Mexicana Airline Suspends Operations

You may have heard that the Mexicana Airline filed for bankruptcy three weeks ago. This prompted them to stop allĀ ticket sales and alter some of the routes in an effort to cut costs. Things started to look up last week, however, when Tenedora K, a group of investors stepped in. They obviously didn’t much like what they found though, as the new management soon decided to suspend all flights indefinitely, as from today.

“The current administration received the company seven days ago under Business Reorganization (Concurso Mercantil) and technically bankrupt. Financial deterioration and lack of agreements force Grupo Mexicana to stop flying. Grupo Mexicana deeply regrets all inconveniences caused to its passengers.”

What started out in 1924, and for many years held the mantle of Mexico’s biggest airline came to a sad and untimely end. Mexicana de Aviacion flew to more than 65 domestic and international flight destinations, including of course, the United States and Canada.
